Facebook verifying Fan Page Ownership

Over the past years we have seen, anyone can make a Facebook Fan Page, and manage it, unless they get an abuse report or some famous company sends them a DMCA, you get to keep your page. Now, today, I got an email saying that I need to verify my Fan Page that I created for my blog.

Here is what the email said:-

Our records indicate that you are currently the admin of a Facebook Page with a large number of fans, Tag Your Friends Pictures. To ensure a positive user experience, we require admins of large Pages to confirm their affiliation with the brand, business, person, or entity that their Page represents. Please use the following link to authenticate your Page.

This shows Facebook is now making sure all Fan page owners with atleast 10,000 fans verify their pages, and this can prevent the creation of duplicate and Fake Fan Pages. I have submitted the authentication report, and now waiting to be reviewed by the Facebook team.

If you don’t verify your ownership, you can lose the right to send updates to your fans, which can make you have no control over your fan page, and you cannot share stuff.

How to verify a Facebook Fan Page.

There are 3 ways
1. Add a badge or a Fan Box widget to your website that links to your Facebook Page.
2. Add an email address to your personal Facebook Profile that is officially affiliated with the entity of your Page to your personal Facebook account.
3. Add another admin to your Page who has an email address that is officially affiliated with the entity your Page represents.

If you cannot authenticate your Page through one of the methods above, please give a brief description of what your Page represents and how you are affiliated with it (e.g., I use my Page to maintain a political blog).

You get about 3 weeks time to get this done or you lose the right to share updates with your fans.

Update:

Ok, so now my publishing rights have been blocked due to a violation of the Pages Terms of Use. This is what the email said:

The Page Tag Your Friends Pictures has had its publishing rights blocked because it violates our Pages Terms of Use. Among other things, Facebook restricts the publishing rights of inauthentic Pages that impersonate other entities, represent generic concepts, spam users, or otherwise violate our Terms of Use. These policies are designed to ensure Facebook remains a safe, secure and trusted environment for all users.

Please note that fans can still see the Page and search for it since it has not been removed from the site. However, any custom URL you had set for the Page has been removed due to the Terms of Use violation.

So now I can’t update my fans and my page doesn not violate any TOS. I replied to them and lets see what they say about this?

Update # 2:
Since I already had a link to my fan page, I replied to Facebook Support Team Email which said I lost my Publishing rights and told them about the exact location of the link and asked them nicely to give back my publishing rights.

Finally, they take action give me back my publishing rights.. thanks^^
